whatcha doin' ??

Oh my goodness!! I haven't updated in forever. So sorry.

I promise i will post pictures later.

My life has been chaos but things seem to be mellowing out.

My husband had an affair which ended our marriage. the divorce looks like it is suddenly getting complicated and messy. My kids were home schooled then we were going to do private school and then public school. In 24 hours my kids started school, I started work and soccer stated. then the next week I got sick. Found out 10 days ago it was pneumonia. still getting over it. its been about 8 weeks. yay. But all this sickness has given me lots of time to knit. yay! So appearing soon in my shop you will see custom slots for socks and mittens. Also baby sets. I have several sweaters about to go up too.

I have free shipping on all bags and wash cloths now through the end of October.

And for all my blog readers if you want socks take 10% off and free shipping. right now all sock orders are custom so just tell me what color you want. if you want a specific brand of yarn there may be a slight up charge to cover the cost of yarn, convo me, we'll chat.

so thats just a quick update for now but soon i will start making regular updates with pictures and all kinds of specials etc. As Fineus and Ferb say (guess what else I was doing while I was sick and knitting) "wait for it"

Here are a few more bags I have knitted but haven't had time to post on etsy yet. why? because I am knitting like a crazy person to kep up with sales. this is not a bad thing. If you want to buy one of the ones here just click on bag at etsy and convo me which one of these you want. if you want more than one convo me and let me know and I will hook you up. The first one is the new pattern I have been trying out. the second two are the old pattern. both are great and I will continue to make both! These are quick pictures and not the best but like I said . . .quick . . . . The first one is light blue, the second is yellow orange and white (looks like sunshine!!) and the third id a lavender pinky whitish mix. looks like raspberries and cream frappaccino. mmm yummy.

and the beautiful back ground is my official etsy stock storage trunk. oh yeah baby, it is paisley on the inside. I totally scored at goodwill this week. . . .

here is a picture of the lace pattern when knit on the appropriate size needles. like I said either size needle (I really like them both) cost the same and will come out to about the same size bag. just depends on what you are using the bag for. i can also make these with the knit side or the purl side facing out. both look good.
My newest item!!!

These are currently available as custom items at a discount through my blog only.

Charge is $17.50 if you use my yarn from my stash or a currently available sugar and cream color. I could make them from basic acrylic at this price also. Or you can get a 3 pack from my stash yarn for $45. Or if you would like a specialty yarn I would do it for $15 each plus the price of the yarn. I need about 250 yards of dk/worsted/aran weight yarn. These prices apply to my other knitted bag also and you can mix and match for a three pack. I can knit a bag in 2-3 days but depending on how many orders I get it may take longer so I will give you an expected date of arrival when I get your oder just in case the orders come flooding in :) if you need them rushed let me know we may be able to work something out. I ship priority flat rate internationally and whatever is cheapest domestically (let me know if you want priority). I can fit 2-3 bags in a flat rate mailer. Ask me about prices.

and sorry I forgot to rotate the pictures . .

this is Ava doing her super model pose. The bag is actually bigger than this. I used the wrong size needles on the sample (of course I can make this size if you want it, cost is the same) so I got a scaled down bag so I am using my scaled down (super) model. She is a smallish 5 year old. The real bag will fit a real adult in a similar fashion.

this is the bag with nothing in it.

with something in it. a book (for a book club on Friday that I have not even begin to read), a medium reusable starbucks coffee cup (which promptly leaked in the bag), a bar of swell smelling soap and a container of carmex ("just in case" says Ava) and a ball of yarn.

an up close of the pattern

the grafting on the handle (I have to admit I am pretty impressed with the way my kitchener stitch is coming along.)

if you are interested in buying one the colors available in my stash here is what I have:
pink (above)
sage
pink/sage mix

yellow
teal
yellow/teal/lime mix

(I have a lot of those first 6 colors)

white/yellow mix (enough for one bag)

yellow/orange/teal/white mix (enough for one bag)

I have a sort of cornflower blue (a lot)

chocolate/mint/white (enough for 2 bags)

white (enough for 2 bags)

royal blue (enough for 2 bags maybe. this is a higher quality lys yarn. very nice)

***** money made on the sale of this bag will go towards buying a decent camera . . . yeah . . . .I am think a nikon cool pix but if you have suggestions I am open. . . .so buy lots of bags so that future customers won't have to suffer through blurry pictures. you can make a difference *****

I have about a million knitted wash cloths but am trying to think of the best way to post them on etsy. They are knitted on size 6 needles so they are nice and tight but still super soft. about 6 inches square (give or take).

if anyone is interested I am asking (postage included)
$4 for 1
$7 for 2
$9 for 3
$10.50 for 4
$2 for each additional one after 4

I will take some picks some day but right now I have two in "latte" (light brown and white), a rainbow, 2 white, lavender, lavender/yellow/white, royal blue, "minnesota lake" (blue lavender and green) one right now but enough yarn for 3 more,

I have a bunch of yarn ear marked for these
pink and white (enough yarn for 4),
"candy dish" (pink, lime, yellow and orange) I have enough yarn for 4. f
chocolate mint (light brown, mint, white)
white
latte
sherbet (orange, pink, yellow)
and some more misc. colors that coordinate with these.
or the ones not knitted yet I can get crazy and whip them out in a day or two.

NEW STUFF!!!

First we have adopted ourselves a fine little puppy named Lucy. We got her at the Humane Society and cannot say enough good things about our far above average in every way animal shelter. Nor can we do enough to help.

But here is what we are starting with . . . Twisted Puppy dog toys.

This is a very special dog toy. want to know why?

Because we recently got a puppy from the humane society. Our humane society seems to be above average in every way. we not only fell in love with the dogs but with the staff and were eager to become volunteers. unfortunately I am the only person old enough. But that is not enough to stop me!

For my 7 year olds birthday party she decided she wanted to have a dog themed party at the humane society. we compromised and will have it at our house and the kids will be making dog and cat toys, dog treats, and kennel blankets for the dogs and cats.

So we had to come up with a dog toy for them to make.

It was hard to concentrate though because my puppy Lucy kept chewing on everything and tugging on everything. Then out of nowhere inspiration struck. Then we realized PetSmart already had this design on the market. Oh well, at least we know it was a good idea. and ours is way cheaper.

made from 100% recycled materials this is a dog tested, kid tested, made by my kids (little girls ages 11, 7 and 5) perfect dog toy.

BUT WAIT!

it gets better. for every toy sold we will donate $3 cash, a matching toy and a bag of treats to the humane society in your name.

Want one for free! Send us 300 pounds worth of Purina weight circles (proof of purchase) from the bottom of your Purina dog food bags plus $2 for shipping and we will pass them on to the humane society. our humane society redeems these for everything from food to office supplies.

I have an unlimited supply of these and colors and size vary. Let me know if you want one with pink or want to avoid pink (remember these were made by a bunch of little girls) and let me know what size dog you have so i can try to find the perfect one.

These are currently being sold in my shop for $7.50. and before you balk at the price remember the proceeds go to a good cause.

Nest item up for bids is our new T-shirt bags. Many states are starting to charge a $.15 tax on plastic and paper bags. i think this rocks from an environmental perspective. I say why wait until you are forced though. I know reusable bags can be expensive though. So I offer you this:

Simple and inexpensive! Funky and fun! Each four pack includes various colors and sizes.

Shipped parcel post.

Holds a ton of stuff. you are only limited by your ability to carry it. bottom seam is double sewn for added strength.

I was able to fit a gallon of milk, a half gallon of juice, 2 20oz water bottles, a large box of cereal, a large bag of pretzels and 3 cans of soup (I could have fit more but thats all that was in my pantry. sad.)

t-shirt colors and prints vary by availability. There will never been any profanity or questionable graphics. If you have a preference between the ones in the first or second picture just let me know or if you want a specific color let me know. There may be an small additional charge for specific colors depending on t-short availability at the second hand store where I get my shirts. convo me for details.

these are currently being sold for $8 for a 4 pack of bags. You can't go wrong.

And my favorite product ever . . . .

This is one amazing bag!!!

Knitted from 100% cotton yarn it is super sturdy, washes easily and dries fast. It packs small but can stretch to amazing proportions.

How much can it carry?

* groceries - I fit 2 quarts of milk, 2 quarts of juice, liter of water and a 20 ounce bottle of pop. a box of mashed potatoes, a jar of peanut butter and 4 cans of soup.
* at the pool- 2 towels, snacks and drinks, pool toys and two swimsuits.
* hang it on a hook for a creative laundry hamper in your child's room. the mesh design provides for lots of air flow to keep the clothes from stinking.
* overdue library books - about 20!

How big is it?

this one is about 15"x9" unstretched. Stretched? that just depends. This is in a beautiful soothing color that reminds me of a Minnesota lake, blues and greens and lavenders weave in and out of one another like ripples in the water. Short handles for easy carrying.

Like the bag but want a specific color? Let me know. I can make it in about a week. Some yarns require an additional charge.

These are currently being sold for $16.50. If you want to buy yarn somewhere else i can knit it into a bag for $10. i recommend yarn from www.soulfulhues.etsy.com regardless of where you get it I need 200 yards of yarn (give or take) in worsted (give or take) weight. Cotton is preferable but i suppose anything will work.

Todays work

This is the Carnival quilt. I was trying out a new technique and it didn't go as well as I hoped. but it is still going to be a cool quilt and once it is finished I will be offering it at a steal. Its a good sized lap quilt (probably about 3 feet by 3 feet.) and will have red binding. I am about half done quilting it and the quilting is going fast. This one should be up for sale in about a week.

I cut a ton of binding for quilts that are currently in the works. Seriously there has to be half a mile of it here.

The top of the Crazy Daisy 1 quilt has been finished. just a little sneak peak . . . .There will also be a Crazy Daisy 2. . . . watch for more exciting details.
